TLDR Electrospun nanofiber mats are effective drug carriers for improving wound healing.
Electrospun nanofiber mats are promising drug carriers for wound healing due to their large active surface area, interlinked porosity, and customizable drug release kinetics. These mats can be infused with antibiotics, growth hormones, or stem cells to accelerate healing and reduce complications. They provide a favorable environment for cell adhesion and proliferation, enhancing tissue regeneration. Various configurations of these mats, such as single-layer, coaxial, and multi-layer structures, have been explored. They effectively deliver therapeutic compounds, potentially slowing antibiotic-resistant bacteria spread and promoting tissue proliferation and differentiation. Overall, electrospun nanofiber mats offer a novel platform for drug delivery in wound healing applications.
