Comparing the Efficiency of Elidel Cream and Elidel Combined With Tretinoin Cream in the Treatment of Alopecia Areata

    TLDR Elidel combined with tretinoin is more effective for treating alopecia areata than Elidel alone.
    This study compared the efficacy of Elidel cream alone versus Elidel combined with tretinoin in treating alopecia areata. Conducted on 80 patients at Rasul-e Akram Hospital in Tehran, the trial found that the combination treatment was significantly more effective. In the Elidel group, 20% achieved complete cure, 35% had a relative cure, 25% saw no change, and 20% experienced disease aggravation. In contrast, the Elidel plus tretinoin group had a 45% complete cure rate, 30% relative cure, 20% no change, and only 5% disease aggravation. The results indicated that the combined treatment was superior (P = 0.048).
