TLDR Silybum marianum extract, Manganese PCA, and Lespedeza capitata extract may help with hair growth and anchorage, potentially aiding in hair loss treatment.
The study evaluated the efficacy of three active ingredients - a patented extract from Silybum marianum (SME), Manganese PCA (MnPCA), and a Lespedeza capitata extract (LCE) - on hair growth and anchorage in dermal papilla cells isolated from human hair follicles. SME activated growth factor receptor signaling pathways, MnPCA stimulated the Wnt/β catenin pathway and induced Versican production and VEGF secretion, and LCE reduced DKK1 release and 5α-reductase activity. The results suggest that a combination of SME, MnPCA, and LCE may improve hair loss treatment by specifically acting on both hair growth and anchorage.
