TLDR PRP can effectively treat hair loss, especially with optimal platelet count.
The study evaluated the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 30 male patients. Each patient received 3 monthly PRP treatments and was followed for 24 weeks. Significant improvements in hair density, hair diameter, and terminal to vellus hair ratio were observed. Patients with a mean platelet count of 12.84±2.35 lacs in PRP showed better trichoscopic improvements. The study concludes that PRP can be an effective therapy for AGA, and achieving an optimal platelet count through proper centrifugation enhances treatment outcomes.
