TLDR The traditional treatment was more effective than finasteride for androgenic alopecia.
The study investigated the effectiveness of catgut embedment combined with moxibustion and bloodletting in treating androgenic alopecia in 84 patients. Participants were divided into two groups: one received the traditional treatment (group A), and the other received finasteride (group B). After 3 months of treatment and a 3-month follow-up, group A showed better results than group B, with significant reductions in testosterone (T) and T/estradiol (E2) levels. The study concluded that the traditional treatment was effective, potentially due to its impact on lowering T levels and T/E2 ratios.
