TLDR Using SVF enriched with PRP in surgery for certain fistulas is effective and safe.
The study evaluated the efficacy and safety of using autologous adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF) enriched with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in flap repair for transsphincteric cryptoglandular fistulas. Conducted on 45 patients, the study found that primary fistula healing occurred in 84% of the total population, with a long-term healing rate of 82%. MRI results showed complete closure of the fistula tract in 89.2% of patients. The procedure was generally safe, with only three adverse events reported. The addition of SVF enriched with PRP was deemed feasible and potentially beneficial for improving surgical outcomes.
