TLDR Combining 5% minoxidil with PRP is better than PRP alone for treating male hair loss.
The study compared the efficacy and safety of 5% topical minoxidil combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) versus PRP alone in treating male androgenetic alopecia. Conducted on 40 male patients, divided into two groups of 20, Group 1 received both treatments while Group 2 received only PRP over six months. Evaluations included hair pull tests, anagen/telogen ratios, patient and physician assessments, and clinical photographs. Results indicated that Group 1 showed more significant improvement, with an 8.9 ± 0.3% increase in anagen hair compared to 5.9 ± 0.5% in Group 2. The study concluded that the combination of 5% minoxidil with PRP was superior to PRP alone.
