TLDR Using more minoxidil solution can lead to better hair growth, but people often use only half the recommended amount. Education and motivation can improve results.
The study conducted in 2011 investigated the link between the effectiveness and cumulative dose of 3% topical minoxidil solution in treating androgenic alopecia (AGA) over 24 weeks. It involved 24 male patients aged 18 to 54 years. The results indicated a significant trend towards better clinical response with higher cumulative doses of minoxidil. However, the average cumulative dose among the participants was only half of the recommended dose. The study concluded that patient education and self-motivation could lead to more positive outcomes, and that doctors and pharmaceutical companies should work to improve patient compliance. The study was limited by a small participant population and a short follow-up period.
