TLDR Dutasteride 0.5mg is more effective than finasteride 1mg for treating male pattern baldness.
This study, conducted by Gubelin Harcha et al., evaluated the efficacy and safety of different doses of dutasteride compared to placebo and finasteride in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in over 900 male participants. The findings indicated that dutasteride 0.5mg was superior to finasteride 1mg in various objective measurements, with similar rates and severity of adverse events. Although the study was limited to 24 weeks, the results suggested that dutasteride could be considered an additional therapy for AGA, pending future approval by health authorities.
