TLDR A new eyelid shampoo improved eyelid hygiene and eyelash length in people with Meibomian Gland Dysfunction.
In a 2016 study involving 20 participants, a novel eyelid shampoo, Eye Shampoo Long (ESL), was found to improve symptoms of Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) and increase eyelash length in both MGD patients and healthy subjects after twice-daily use for 8 weeks. The study suggested that the benefits of ESL might be attributed to its vitamin D and hair growth-promoting components, as well as its less irritating formula compared to other products. No adverse events were reported, and 30% of subjects continued using ESL post-study, indicating its potential for long-term use. Despite these positive findings, the authors recognized the need for further research with a larger sample size to confirm the results.
