TLDR Permanent makeup can cause delayed allergic reactions, but they can be managed with proper treatment.
A 38-year-old woman experienced severe allergic reactions during the removal of permanent eyebrow makeup, particularly to red-orange pigment after laser therapy. Over 24 sessions using a nanosecond laser and chemical removers, the pigment was successfully removed, though initial treatments led to redness, swelling, and papules. The allergic reactions subsided with continued remover treatments and topical corticosteroids. The case highlights the potential for delayed allergic reactions to pigments and proposes a management protocol, emphasizing the need for awareness and preparedness for these rare but significant reactions. The study underscores the importance of professional management and suggests that chemical removers may be more effective than lasers in such cases.
