TLDR Vitamin B6 reduced hair loss in women with diffuse alopecia, but calcium pantothenate had no clear positive effect.
The study conducted 23 years ago evaluated the effectiveness of vitamin B6 and calcium pantothenate on hair growth in women with diffuse alopecia. The study involved 46 women between puberty and 30 years of age. Vitamin B6 was administered daily via intramuscular injection for 20 to 30 days and repeated after 6 months, while calcium pantothenate was given orally twice a day in 100 mg doses for 4-5 months. The results showed that vitamin B6 improved hair condition and reduced hair loss, especially in alopecia of telogenic patomechanism. However, calcium pantothenate did not show a clear positive effect on diffuse alopecia in women.
