TLDR PRP is a simple, effective, and safe treatment for hair loss.
A prospective cohort study conducted in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, evaluated the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy in treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 30 patients, comprising 23 males and 7 females. The study involved six PRP treatments over six months, with assessments using global photography, hair pull tests, patient satisfaction ratings, and hair density measurements. Results indicated a significant improvement, with all patients showing a negative hair pull test by the end of the study and an increase in mean hair density from 78.96 ± 9.66 hairs/cm² to 105.46 ± 9.21 hairs/cm². The mean patient satisfaction rating was 6.83 out of 10, suggesting that PRP was a satisfactory treatment for most participants. The study concluded that PRP is a simple, effective, and safe treatment for AGA.
