Study of the Effectiveness and Safety of Botulinum Toxin Type A for Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia in Men

    This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of botulinum toxin type A (BTA) for treating androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 20 male patients with AGA grade II-IV. Conducted at Al-Azhar University Hospital and Mubarak Hospital, the research found a significant decrease in vellous hair count and a significant increase in mean hair thickness over three sessions. The most notable changes occurred between the first and third sessions, with a 35.7% decrease in vellous hair count and a 38.9% increase in hair thickness. The study concluded that BTA is a safe and effective treatment for AGA, offering a promising new therapeutic approach.
