TLDR Latanoprost helps pig hair follicles grow faster by keeping them in the growth phase longer.
The study investigated the effect of latanoprost on pig hair follicles in vitro, using a culture model with varying concentrations of the drug. It was found that hair follicles treated with latanoprost at concentrations of 0.8, 4, and 20 ng/mL grew more rapidly compared to those without the drug, with significant differences observed (P<0.05). By day 8, follicles treated with these concentrations remained in the anagen phase, while untreated follicles had transitioned to the catagen/telogen phase. The results suggested that latanoprost could stimulate hair follicle growth by prolonging the anagen phase of the hair cycle.
