TLDR The best extraction method for Gleditschia fera fruit yields high saponin content and strong antioxidant activity.
The study investigated the effect of different extraction processes on the saponin content and antioxidant activity of Gleditschia fera (Lour.) Merr dried fruit extract. The optimal conditions for extraction were found to be a material/solvent ratio of 1:15 (w/v), an extraction temperature of 50°C, and an extraction time of 4 hours, resulting in a high extraction yield of 74 g/100 g. Under these conditions, the highest saponin content achieved was 37.06 mg/g. Additionally, the extract demonstrated significant antioxidant activity, with a 45.30% DPPH scavenging rate at a concentration of 10000 μg/ml.
