    Marina Silalahi
TLDR Eclipta prostrata is used for health benefits and hair care, showing various protective and healing effects.
Eclipta prostrata has been traditionally used for medicinal purposes and as a hair fertilizer. A literature review of online articles revealed its ethnobotanical applications in treating liver disorders, respiratory issues, hepatitis, snake venom poisoning, and gastritis. In beauty, it was used for hair nourishment and baldness treatment. The plant exhibited bioactivities such as neuroprotection, anti-asthma, anti-cancer, anti-diabetes, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective, anti-osteoporosis, and anti-hypercholesterolemia effects. These bioactivities were linked to its secondary metabolites, including echinocystic acid and ecclalbasaponin II, which were particularly associated with anti-cancer properties.
