TLDR Daprodustat, combined with PAβN, could be a new antibacterial treatment.
This study demonstrates the feasibility of using a computational workflow to repurpose non-antibacterial drugs as antibacterial agents, offering a cost-effective strategy for discovering new treatments for diseases like cancer, diabetes, and COVID-19. It highlights the potential of daprodustat, when used in combination with an efflux pump inhibitor such as PAβN, as a promising therapeutic approach against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial pathogens.
