TLDR Two cats and their owner in Turkey were successfully treated for a rare fungal infection with fluconazole.
This case report described a rare instance of dermatophytosis caused by Chrysosporium species in two Persian cats in Turkey. Both cats and their owner, who was undergoing chemotherapy and had low immunity, were found to be infected. The cats exhibited widespread lesions and alopecia. Treatment with intravenous fluconazole led to significant improvement in the lesions within six weeks, with no adverse effects observed. This report highlighted the zoonotic potential of Chrysosporium spp. and the importance of antifungal therapy in managing such infections.
