TLDR Antifungal treatment can improve severe skin infections with cutaneous horns.
The document described a case of a 29-year-old Algerian male with chronic dermatophytosis, presenting with unique giant cutaneous horns on his feet, making walking difficult. The patient exhibited various skin manifestations, including warts, papulonodules, eczematiform lesions, lichenifications, alopecia, and onyxis. Laboratory findings showed eosinophilia and an inflammatory syndrome. Trichophyton violaceum was identified in all mycological samples. Histology revealed acanthosis, hyperkeratosis, and mycelial filaments in the skin. Treatment with oral griseofulvin and topical ketoconazole led to significant improvement. The study suggested a possible genetic anomaly with autosomal recessive inheritance and deficient cellular immunity as contributing factors.
