TLDR Increased awareness and research are needed to prevent hair loss from cosmetic procedures.
The article discusses pressure alopecias (PA), categorizing them into type 1 (sustained external pressure) and type 2 (direct pressure from cosmetic injections). It highlights additional cosmetic procedures associated with type 2 PA, such as thread lifts, temporal lifting with dermal fillers, and facelifts. The article emphasizes the need for further research to understand the causes and risk factors of alopecia linked to these procedures. A retrospective study of 60 patients suggests that topical minoxidil may help prevent alopecia following facelifts. The authors call for increased awareness and research to improve patient care in the context of rising cosmetic interventions.
