TLDR PCOS often causes skin issues like excess hair, acne, and hair loss, needing early treatment.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) often presents with significant dermatological manifestations such as hirsutism, acne, and alopecia, which can impact patients' quality of life. This systematic review, following PRISMA guidelines, analyzed recent literature and found a high prevalence of these symptoms in PCOS patients, with insulin resistance and hyperandrogenism being key contributing factors. Various therapeutic approaches, including hormonal agents and insulin modulators, have been explored for managing these symptoms. The review underscores the importance of early identification and treatment of dermatological manifestations to improve both aesthetics and overall health outcomes for PCOS patients.
