TLDR People with Fibromyalgia Syndrome often have skin symptoms, which can worsen their quality of life and increase depression.
The study investigated the skin findings in 77 patients with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) and their relationship with the disease's clinical symptoms, quality of life, and depression levels. The control group consisted of 74 individuals. The results showed that 37.1% of FMS patients had at least one cutaneous symptom, compared to 19.9% in the control group. There was a significant increase in depression levels and a decrease in all quality of life parameters in the FMS group. Furthermore, 43% of FMS patients had at least one dermatological disease, compared to 20.5% of the controls. The study concluded that dermatological symptoms may be present in FMS, suggesting a need for a more multidisciplinary approach in treatment and follow-up.
