TLDR Tretinoin gel is safe for sun exposure, but tacalcitol doesn't significantly improve non-segmental vitiligo.
The document reviewed the safety and efficacy of dermatological drugs, topical agents, and cosmetics. It included results from studies on tretinoin and tacalcitol. A study with 51 participants showed no phototoxic or photoallergic reactions to tretinoin 0.05% in a new gel formulation, confirming its safety regarding sun exposure. Another study with 72 participants supported these findings. However, a separate double-blind study with 80 patients found that tacalcitol had no significant effect on repigmentation or lesion size reduction in non-segmental vitiligo, and no serious adverse reactions were reported. These studies help clarify the safety and potential effectiveness of these dermatological treatments.

The conversation is about someone who has been taking finasteride for hair loss without success, considering switching to dutasteride or giving up treatment. Suggestions include trying dutasteride, microneedling, infrared therapy, multivitamins, and high-concentration topical solutions combining finasteride and dutasteride.
