TLDR People with Down syndrome often have skin issues and need regular check-ups for early treatment.
This systematic review identified an increased prevalence of various dermatologic disorders in patients with Down syndrome (DS), including atopic dermatitis, hidradenitis suppurativa, ichthyosis, psoriasis, alopecia areata, vitiligo, and onychomycosis. The study analyzed 40 observational studies and 99 case reports, highlighting the need for improved screening and management guidelines for these conditions in the DS population. The findings suggested that patients with DS could benefit from regular dermatologic screenings to enable earlier diagnosis and treatment of these common cutaneous disorders.
