TLDR The creams are safe for pubic hair removal with minor, temporary skin irritation.
This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of two thioglycolate chemical depilatory creams for full genital hair removal in men and women. Conducted through three single application studies, it involved 18 male participants in a preliminary test, followed by 33 males and 31 females in subsequent studies. Visual dermal assessments and participant feedback were collected at intervals up to 72 hours post-application. Results showed 5 cases of dermal irritation in males and 4 in females at 30 minutes, with fewer cases persisting at 72 hours. The creams were deemed to have acceptable dermal tolerance, supporting their safe use for pubic hair removal.
