TLDR Dental pulp cells can be successfully cultured up to 5 hours after tooth extraction.
The study investigated the viability of human dental pulp cells from 21 extracted teeth kept at room temperature for varying times before processing. Teeth were divided into five groups, tested immediately, and at 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, and 5 hours post-extraction. Analysis showed that a delay of up to 5 hours did not affect the establishment of dental pulp cell cultures, cell morphology, or their proliferative potential, with similar results observed across all groups.
