TLDR Root apical papilla cells from wisdom teeth are best for bone therapies.
The study isolated and characterized stem cells from dental tissues of extracted wisdom teeth, specifically the dental follicle, dental pulp, and root apical papilla. It found that all three types of cells were multipotent mesenchymal stem cells capable of differentiating into osteogenic and adipogenic lineages. The root apical papilla-derived cells showed the highest potential for osteogenic differentiation, while dental follicle cells were more inclined towards adipogenic differentiation. These findings highlighted the potential of using these stem cells for regenerative applications, with root apical papilla cells being particularly advantageous for bone-related therapies.
