TLDR DAB labeling effectively identifies collagen type III and PDGFR in horse skin, but may show false positives.
The study evaluated the reliability of IHC staining for collagen type III and PDGFR on equine skin sections, as IF staining was unreliable. Collagen type III was primarily labeled in the ECM, with sebaceous glands showing a strong signal, though there was a false-positive DAB labeling in the epidermal layer. The anti-PDGFR-antibody staining was associated with cells having long-shaped processes, mostly around hair follicles.
