TLDR Cyclosporin A significantly increases hair growth in certain areas of mice.
In a study conducted in 1987, Cyclosporin A (CyA) was found to stimulate hair growth in six-week-old nude mice when administered at doses of 10 and 100 mg/kg body weight/day for 14 days. The treated mice exhibited hair growth that was 3 to 4 times longer than that of the control group, which received only olive oil. Hair growth was observed on the neck, back, and hip, but not on the abdominal region. The effect was similar in both male and female mice, and hair length returned to control levels 14 days after treatment cessation. Microscopic examination showed no difference in the number of hair follicles between treated and control mice.
