Cutaneous Manifestations of Chronic Alcoholism: A Cross-Sectional Study in a Tertiary Care Centre in South India

    TLDR Chronic alcoholics most commonly experience skin infections.
    In 2016, a cross-sectional study was conducted on 130 male patients with a history of chronic alcoholism in Puducherry, India. The study aimed to identify various skin manifestations associated with chronic alcoholism. The results showed that 98.4% of the patients had dermatological manifestations, with pityriasis versicolor being the most common dermatosis, followed by psoriasis. No alcohol-specific dermatoses were observed. The study concluded that cutaneous infections were the most common skin manifestations among chronic alcoholics.
