TLDR Cut hair can help link suspects to crime scenes.
The study investigated the forensic potential of using cut hair samples to link suspects to crime scenes by analyzing their structural properties with scanning electron microscopy. It demonstrated that hair strands cut simultaneously showed similar cutting angles and surface characteristics, allowing for the possibility of matching hair found at crime scenes with those from suspects. Although the study did not directly involve a real case, the methods developed showed promise for future forensic applications, suggesting that cut hair could be a valuable tool in criminal investigations.
