TLDR Chinese patients with systemic lupus erythematosus commonly experience oral ulcers, arthritis, alopecia, skin rash, and nephritis.
The CSTAR registry, established in 2009, collected data from 304 rheumatology centers across 30 provinces in China, registering 25,147 SLE patients by December 2019. The mean age of disease onset was 31.2 years, with a male to female ratio of 1:11.9. Common clinical presentations included oral ulcers (59.4%), arthritis (55.0%), alopecia (43.22%), skin rash (40.0%), and nephritis (33.5%). The mean SLEDAI score at entry was 4, with 32.6% of patients having moderate to severe disease activity. The registry, the largest of its kind in China, has provided valuable data for future research and international collaborations.
