TLDR A young girl's foot lesion was actually a rare condition caused by a hair fragment under the skin, not a parasite.
A 19-month-old girl in Switzerland was suspected of having larva migrans due to a moving lesion on her foot, which appeared after playing in a park. However, it was identified as cutaneous pilus migrans, a rare condition where a hair fragment embeds in the epidermis and migrates. This condition is often asymptomatic and can be mistaken for larva migrans, which is not endemic in Switzerland. Dermoscopy can aid in diagnosis, and the condition is typically caused by a hair fragment penetrating the skin, possibly facilitated by wet conditions. The lesion in this case was not painful or itchy, and the child had no other symptoms.

community Why is everyone not directly advised Dutasteride?

      in Finasteride/Dutasteride  167 upvotes 2 months ago
Dutasteride is less commonly prescribed for hair loss because it is not FDA-approved for this purpose, unlike finasteride, which is more accessible and preferred due to fewer side effects. Dutasteride may be more effective in reducing DHT but has a longer half-life and potentially more significant side effects.
