TLDR The pandemic caused new skin problems in children, mainly due to mask-wearing and stress.
The study investigated the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on pediatric skin disorders, involving 291 children aged 0-18 years. It found that 65 children developed new-onset skin conditions during the pandemic, with pruritus, xerosis, acne vulgaris, and seborrheic dermatitis being the most common. There was no significant link between new-onset skin diseases and Covid-19 diagnosis, but a significant relationship was found between acne vulgaris cases and mask-wearing duration. The study concluded that the pandemic led to new skin problems in children, influenced by personal protective equipment use and the psychosocial burden of the pandemic.
