TLDR Covid-19 can cause skin and oral symptoms, like taste changes, which help in detection and management.
The document reviewed the current literature on Covid-19 symptoms, highlighting the emergence of cutaneous and oral lesions as the disease spread globally. It noted that as Covid-19 cases increased, so did reports of skin lesions, which are common in viral infections and could aid in disease detection and management. Oral symptoms, particularly changes in taste, were identified as early and frequent indicators, linked to the presence of the ACE-2 receptor in taste buds. The study suggested that examining the oral microbiota of Covid-19 patients could help identify risk factors for periodontal health. These findings were deemed significant for both dermatological and dental examinations.
