TLDR Stem cell serum effectively treated hair loss caused by COVID-19.
The study presents a case of a 30-year-old man who experienced diffuse scalp alopecia, or hair loss, after contracting COVID-19. This condition, known as telogen effluvium (TE), is increasingly recognized as a long-term consequence of COVID-19, affecting up to 36.7% of hospitalized patients. The patient's hair loss was treated effectively with a combination of daily minoxidil, daily LED light therapy, and monthly applications of Calecim stem cell serum. After five treatments spaced a month apart, the patient showed significant improvement in hair density and regrowth. The study suggests that stem cell serum could be a potential treatment for chronic TE, especially in cases where conventional treatments show partial response. The authors propose early intervention with minoxidil and LED light therapy, and if TE is severe and persistent, the addition of stem cell serum.
