TLDR Some people with congenital triangular alopecia have a central tuft of hair in the bald patch, but the cause is unknown.
Congenital triangular alopecia (CTA) was described as a developmental anomaly resulting in a bald patch in the temporal region, typically on one side. In a study involving 5 patients, a unique feature was observed: a central tuft of short hair within the bald patch, identified as terminal hair both visually and under a microscope. The underlying cause of this unusual presentation remained unknown.
