Despite conventional treatments like corticosteroids, many patients did not see symptom improvement and turned to CAM, with a lifetime prevalence of CAM use in dermatologic diseases ranging from 35% to 69%. The review included a systematic analysis of 159 studies, featuring three randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and one open-label trial, to assess the effectiveness of these alternative treatments.
