TLDR Subcision is the most efficient, cost-effective, and safest treatment for post-acne boxcar scarring in skin of color.
The study surveyed 55 board-certified dermatologists to compare CO2 laser therapy, RF microneedling, TCA cross, and subcision for treating post-acne boxcar scarring in skin of color. Results showed no single treatment was significantly superior, but subcision appeared to be the most efficient, cost-effective, and safest option. While 55% of dermatologists believed their preferred treatment could be used on all skin types, only 47% felt their approach was always safe for skin of color. Two-thirds of patients were satisfied with their results, and 47% of dermatologists were consistently comfortable treating boxcar scarring in skin of color.
