TLDR Rosemary shows potential for treating various health issues.
Rosmarinus officinalis L. (rosemary) is recognized for its medicinal properties, attributed to its secondary metabolites like carnosic acid, rosmarinic acid, and carnosol. This bibliographic review analyzed human studies from Pubmed and ScienceDirect to explore rosemary's therapeutic applications, dosages, and extract types. Findings highlight its cellular activity and benefits for dental, dermatological, metabolic, respiratory, and central nervous system disorders. Rosemary has been tested as essential oil, aqueous or alcoholic extracts, or powdered leaves, alone or with other plants, in doses ranging from 250 mg capsules to 10 g, or as tea from 250 mL to 1 L. The extensive studies support rosemary's therapeutic potential and warrant further evidence-based research.
