TLDR Women with excessive hair growth tend to have shorter index and ring fingers compared to others.
In 2019, Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University conducted a study on 144 women aged 18 to 38 to investigate the correlation between hirsutism (excessive hair growth) and the 2:4 finger ratio. The study found that the 2nd and 4th finger lengths and the 2:4 finger ratios were lower in patients with hirsutism compared to the control group, suggesting increased androgen exposure in these patients. However, no correlation was found between the degree of hirsutism and the finger lengths and 2:4 finger ratios. The study concluded that the 2:4 finger ratio data may be useful in diagnosing hirsutism and hyperandrogenism, but further studies with larger sample sizes are needed for confirmation.
