TLDR SJS and TEN can cause long-term organ damage and psychological issues beyond skin and eye problems.
Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are severe drug reactions with immediate and long-term health impacts. While skin and eye complications are well-documented, this study highlights that survivors may also experience chronic issues affecting internal organs like the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems, as well as psychological effects due to the trauma of severe skin damage. The report discusses two cases of TEN with long-term mucosal scarring and liver complications, emphasizing the need for healthcare providers to understand the chronic phase of SJS/TEN for effective patient care post-recovery.
