TLDR Bojungikki-tang may help with hair regrowth during chemotherapy.
This case study reported on a 70-year-old female with chemotherapy-induced alopecia due to treatment for cholangiocarcinoma and liver metastasis. She experienced various side effects from chemotherapy, including hair loss. Bojungikki-tang was administered to address her general weakness and fatigue. After three months, her hair loss improved, and new hair growth was observed with a dark color, despite ongoing chemotherapy. However, Bojungikki-tang did not alleviate other symptoms like bone marrow suppression and peripheral numbness. This case suggested that Bojungikki-tang might have a beneficial effect on chemotherapy-induced alopecia.
