TLDR Concentrated growth factor shows promise for treating hair loss but needs more research.
This review article discusses the potential of concentrated growth factor (CGF) as a treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), a common form of hair loss. CGF, a third-generation autologous platelet concentrate, shows promise due to its ability to regulate growth factors, activate stem-like cells, modulate inflammation, and reduce oxidative stress in the scalp. Clinical studies indicate that CGF can enhance hair regrowth, improve hair density, and has a favorable safety profile, both as a standalone treatment and in combination with traditional therapies like minoxidil and finasteride. However, the review highlights limitations such as small sample sizes and the need for standardized assessment criteria, emphasizing the necessity for high-quality clinical trials to confirm CGF's efficacy and safety in treating AGA.
