TLDR A woman with Cushing's syndrome improved after surgery to remove an adrenal tumor.
This case study described a 28-year-old woman with ACTH-independent Cushing's syndrome due to an adrenal lesion. She presented with secondary amenorrhea, weight gain in the abdomen and face, fatigue, anxiety, and other symptoms. Lab tests showed low ACTH and abnormal cortisol levels. A CT scan revealed a left adrenal mass, which was surgically removed and identified as an adrenal cortical adenoma. Post-surgery, her cortisol levels normalized, and her symptoms, including menstrual irregularities and psychological wellbeing, improved significantly. The study highlighted the importance of recognizing subtle symptoms of Cushing's syndrome for timely diagnosis and treatment to improve patient outcomes.
