TLDR Henna and honey improved burn healing and hair growth in rabbits.
In a 2016 study, a combination of Lawsonia inermis L. (henna) powder and honey was applied to nine male Oryctolagus cuniculus rabbits to assess its effects on burn wound healing and hair growth. The rabbits were divided into three groups: untreated control, treated with honey, and treated with both henna and honey. Over 24 days, the group receiving the henna and honey mixture showed significant improvements in wound healing, including reduced necrosis duration, earlier crust detachment, and faster healing times. This group also exhibited enhanced hair growth in terms of surface area recovery and hair length. The study suggests that henna and honey may be effective for improving burn wound healing and promoting hair growth, although further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms.
