TLDR Broiler chicken meat extract increases body weight, visceral fat, and hair production in young male Wistar rats.
The study conducted 6 years ago involved 36 healthy male Wistar rats, aged 1.5 months, divided into two groups of 18 each. The control group was treated with distilled water for 21 days, while the treatment group was given oral broiler meat extract of 3.6 g/rat/day for the same period. The results showed that the mean body weight in the treatment group was 195.94±4.869 g, significantly higher than the control group's 173.94±4.976 g. The mean visceral fat mass in the treatment group was also higher at 0.567±0.1138 g compared to the control group's 0.356±0.0784 g. Furthermore, the treatment group had a higher mean number of hair follicles (31.56±2.332) compared to the control group (23.78±1.629). The study concluded that oral broiler meat extract could increase body weight, visceral fat mass, and hair follicles in young male Wistar rats.
