TLDR Cattle in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, face high parasitic disease rates, needing better deworming and management.
This study of 415 bovine parasitic infection cases in Mymensingh, Bangladesh, found a high prevalence of paramphistomiasis (49.81%), stomach worm infections (16.47%), and fascioliasis (16.28%), with infections more common in female cattle (51.80%). Symptoms included diarrhea (39.80%) and hair loss (17.47%), and mixed infections were more prevalent (73.97%) than single infections. The most common treatment was triclabendazole and levamisole (52.30%). The study highlights the significant impact of parasitic diseases on cattle production and the need for routine deworming and improved management practices to address potential anthelmintic resistance and reinfection issues.
