A Topical Botanical Lotion Increases and Remodels Scalp Collagen Content Through Longer Anagen Phase, Opening New Perspectives

TLDR A botanical lotion can increase scalp collagen and extend hair growth phase, potentially improving hair thinning issues.
The study from 7 years ago aimed to assess the link between scalp collagen content and the duration of the anagen phase of hair growth. It was found that premature onset of the catagen phase, which interrupts and shortens the anagen phase, results in hair thinning and miniaturization over time. The study used a topical botanical lotion that was previously shown to extend the anagen phase and increase the number of anagen hairs in male subjects with androgenetic alopecia. The lotion's proposed mechanism of action was to prevent the premature onset of the catagen phase and reduce scalp micro-inflammation. The lotion was provided to male subjects with androgenetic alopecia for application prior to collagen evaluation.
